The hormone Relaxin remains in the postpartum body for six weeks, and the benefits of belly binding include encouraging the body to mold back into pre-pregnancy shape; supporting the hips, pelvic floor, abdomen, ribs, muscles and organs; prevents nursing slouch; can bring the abdominal wall back together encouraging the healing of Diastasis Recti and pelvic separation; is warming and comforting, like a tight hug, offering emotional support; encourages the uterus to tone down, getting rid of blood waste
